Critical Timing: Road Closures and 1:00am Crane Lifts

Service Highlight
Contractor: 1st Mechanical
Scope:
- Supply and coordinated site delivery of strut channel for seismic upgrade work.
- Site deliveries had to align precisely with scheduled crane lifts onto the hospital roof during road closures on Park Rd.
The Challenge
1st Mechanical was completing seismic upgrades at Auckland City Hospital, where deliveries had to be precisely timed to avoid disrupting essential hospital services.
With a 6 Metre load of strut channel to be crane-lifted to the hospital roof, and narrow delivery windows due to overnight road closures on Park Road, FDG’s delivery team was under added pressure. Timing was critical, as the delivery needed to arrive exactly on schedule to meet a 1:00am crane lift.
FDG’s Solution
FDG assembled a dedicated delivery team with a detailed plan and executed flawlessly to ensure our products arrived on-site exactly on time for the crane lift.
Throughout the process, we maintained constant communication with 1st Mechanical, crane operators, and logistics partners, allowing us to respond quickly to any real-time changes and keep our customer moving and making.
The Results
- Successful crane lift to hospital roof.
- On-time delivery within the narrow overnight window.
- Seamless coordination with 1st Mechanical and crane operators.
- Dedicated FDG team onsite for expert oversight throughout the night.
