Christchurch Convention Centre
The Following the 2012 Earthquake the City of Christchurch was committed to gain back an important part of their cultural and entertainment landscape. This new Christchurch Convention Centre due for completion in 2020 boasts a 1400-seat auditorium, 3600 square metres of exhibit space, and 24 meeting rooms. FDG is proud to be involved in the rebuild of Christchurch and in particular space so important to the community. CPB Contractors contacted FDG with a significant supply issue. Their problem was that no one stocked what they required here in New Zealand. FDG took on this challenge and was able to import the specific structural bolts required, avoiding any delays to the construction programme without exceeding budgeted costs. This particular project was one of the first projects in New Zealand to use the new specified Structural Standards, which meant FDG’s bolts were subjected to rigorous testing criteria and passed with flying colours.
